TAB 5GVRLA100 AGM 12V 100Ah Battery – UPS, Solar Backup and Generator Sets
12V 100Ah AGM battery from the TAB 5GVRLA range, made with high-purity raw materials for maximum charge efficiency and a tightly controlled self-discharge rate (≤2%/month). Built mainly for UPS and EPS systems, it also works as a backup battery in solar panel installations with a hybrid inverter-charger. Supports vertical or horizontal mounting and offers a 10-year design life.
TAB 5GVRLA100: a 100Ah AGM battery for power backup
The 5GVRLA100 (12V 100Ah), part of the TAB 5GVRLA range, is built with pure AGM technology and high-purity raw materials. It's a float-battery by design: built for installations that need an always-available power source with an immediate response to a power outage, rather than for daily deep-discharge cycling.
AGM technology: fast response, low maintenance
AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) construction immobilizes the electrolyte in a microporous fiberglass mat, reducing internal resistance (4.9 mΩ on this unit) and allowing it to deliver high current spikes instantly — up to 1,000 A over 5 seconds and 2,500 A under short circuit. That fast response is what makes it the go-to technology for continuous float applications, such as UPS systems and generator starting.
Key strengths
- EUROBAT service-life classification — 10-year design life at 25°C.
- Very low self-discharge (≤2%/month), critical for equipment left unsupervised in standby for months.
- High gas recombination efficiency, minimizing electrolyte loss over the battery's full lifespan.
- Flexible mounting: vertical or horizontal, depending on available rack or cabinet space.
- Sealed VRLA construction: zero maintenance, zero leak risk.
Applications
UPS and EPS systems
Its main use: backup power for uninterruptible power supply systems and emergency power systems, where the battery works in constant float mode and must respond reliably during a power failure.
Generator starting and backup
Its high discharge current makes it just as suitable for generator starting as for its role as a reserve bank.
Backup in solar panel installations
In photovoltaic systems with a hybrid inverter-charger (grid + solar), this AGM battery can be used as a backup or float-reinforcement bank. That said, if your installation will put the battery through daily deep-discharge cycles (off-grid self-consumption), we recommend the TAB 5GVRLA250, built with hybrid AGM-GEL technology specifically for that use case.
Telecommunications and emergency power
Telecom cabinets, alarm control panels, and emergency lighting that need a stable, long-lasting power source with no periodic maintenance.

Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for a self-consumption solar installation?
It can be used as a backup or reinforcement battery in systems with a hybrid inverter-charger, but being AGM (not hybrid AGM-GEL) it has lower tolerance to daily deep-discharge cycling than the TAB 5GVRLA250. For self-consumption with heavy daily cycling, we recommend that hybrid version.
Is it AGM or GEL?
It's a 100% AGM battery, distinct from the hybrid AGM-GEL models in the same TAB 5GVRLA range.
What maintenance does it need?
None: it's a sealed VRLA battery, with no water top-ups or electrolyte level checks required.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes, it supports both vertical and horizontal installation, making it easier to mount in racks and technical cabinets.
