Portable Fridges

12V portable compressor fridges

A portable compressor fridge rides in the boot, the campervan, the 4x4 or the boat and cools like the one at home: -18 °C to +10 °C, on 12V/24V from the vehicle or 230V at home and on the campsite. Indel B portable fridges in the TB series run from 20 to 130 litres, with a low-draw Secop compressor, reversible lid, interior light and battery protection so you are never left unable to start.

Choosing the right capacity

  • 20-30 L: drinks and food for a weekend for two. Fits between the seats of a car.
  • 40-50 L: the best-selling size for campervans and vans. A week's shopping for two.
  • 60-75 L: families, 4x4 and long trips. Many models are dual-zone: fridge and freezer at once.
  • 100-130 L: expedition, boat and professional use.

Black Steel models, with a steel casing, stand up to knocks, salt and sun and are the ones we recommend for boats and 4x4.

FAQ

How much power does a 12V portable fridge use?

A 40-50 litre model averages 0.8 to 1.2 Ah per hour at 30 °C, around 25 Ah per day. A 100 Ah leisure battery gives you 3-4 days without recharging; with a 100 W solar panel, indefinitely.

Can I plug it into the car's cigarette socket?

Yes, all models include a 12V lead with cigarette plug and three-level battery protection. For a campervan or boat a dedicated 12V socket with properly sized cable is better; you will find them under accessories.

Does it really freeze?

Yes. Unlike thermoelectric coolers, a compressor fridge reaches -18 °C regardless of outside temperature.
